The Mayor of eThekwini Municipality, Cllr Obed Mlaba, invites members of the media to the launch of an exhibition titled “A Glance into the Past: The flight of Ukhozi.”
This exhibition, which will be on display from January 2011 to February 1212, is aimed at celebrating and commemorating 50 years since uKhozi FM was established.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Dr. Zweli Mkhize, and other dignitaries are expected to attend the function. The exhibition of uKhozi FM will be the first major event to be hosted by the Local History Museum for the year 2011. However, during the course of the year, the Municipality will also be hosting other major exhibitions such as the 100th anniversary of the Shembe congregation, to be hosted in March 2011, and 50th anniversary of uMkhonto Wesizwe, to be hosted in May 2011.
Head of Parks, Recreation and Culture, Mr Thembinkosi Ngcobo, said that eThekwini had a very rich heritage and uKhozi FM has become an integral part of it.
